The Ferren and Violet Bunker Family - 1983

The Hector Bunker Family Reunion, Aug. 20, 1983 is a time for the Ferren Bunker family to bring you another chapter of our family history. We rejoice in our family tines and our great heritage in a family where the gospel of Jesus Christ is of primary importance.

On March 2, 1983 our family assembled in Las Vegas and set our goals for the coming year. We are trying to achieve those goals which we have set to help us make continued progress and growth as families and individuals. We are most interested in doing what we are counseled to do by our living prophet. We know he represents the Lord.

We now have increased to a total of 31 members in our family. We have a humble gratefulness that all of our family members are faithful in serving the Lord. We feel a genuine love and an appreciation for each other.

Our family is organized to help us carry out our family functions and responsibilities. Ferren is the president and Violet is vice-president. Janet is genealogist, Dianne is director of our temporal welfare, Norma is secretary and director of spiritual welfare. Terry is director of missionary work and Brent is director of histories and records.

We will remember this year as a most trying and difficult time for Violet because of her health. Medicine changes prescribed seemed to be the primary cause. She is feeling better now, Ferren continues as patriarch and now teaches the gospel essentials class in Sunday school instead of the gospel doctrine class.

David and Janet are looking for their first grand child in August. Paul is in New Jersey in the National Guard. Paul and Gwen were sealed in the temple on their first marriage anniversary. They are going to school in Pocatello, Idaho. Janalee is working at Glacier National park and plans to enter Utah State University this year. She has excelled in music. Charles has a paper route and Mariann takes care of the rabbits. David will be the principal of the middle school this year and will teach music. Moreland, Idaho is home to them.

Ken and Dianne remain in Dartmouth, Mass, Ken is with the F.B.I. and is 2nd counselor in the stake presidency. Dianne is the inservice teacher trainer in the Primary stake board. They boast a good garden and a wonderful family trip to the Hill Cumorah pageant. They have a family of J’s, Julie, Janelle, Janette and James. They all lock forward to a time when Ken’s work will let them move to the West.

Al and Norma still live in Orem, Utah. Al is the administrator of Salt Lake City. He won the acclaim of the city and national leaders as he directed the flood emergency activities this spring. He was released as Bishop and now serves in the stake High Council and serves in the ward missionary program, Norma is P.T.A. president and Primary president. Bradley, Christine and Lesley are taking honors in swimming.

Terry and Sandi have a change in address. Terry has completed his schooling in Tallahassee, Florida and they are now in Las Vegas. He passed the state board exam and has established a family and marriage counseling clinic and is off to a good start in developing a good program and clientel. Their home is at 7195 Bridgeview Ave. They are now members of the 45th ward. They are very happy to be out west again. They have four children: Thomas, Diana, Adam and Brian. They have been living with parents and grand¬parents while they became established.
