SAMUEL WITTWER’S PATRIARCHAL BLESSING

St. George, Utah. Nov. 8, 1879. A patriarchal blessing on the head of Samuel Wittwer, son of Christian and Magdalena Wittwer, born in Switzerland, March 10, 1847.

Brother Samuel, I place my hands upon your head and seal upon you a patriarchal blessing. You are one of the house of Joseph that shall gather the people together from the nations of the earth. You will have great power and influence where ever you go. They will flock to you as doves to their windows! The Holy Ghost will rest down abundantly upon you. Your tongue will be loosed. You will preach unto them the wonderful work of the last days. Your mind will be full of the knowledge of God, You will bring many souls to a knowledge of the truth. You will bring them into the fold of Christ. There will be men to oppose you. You will take but little notice of them and that will cause them to rage and foam and nash their teeth. They will seek thy life. By the power of God you will be wafted away. You will go from city to city. They will try to stir up the people against you but God will be in you and round about you that they cannot hurt you. You will return laden with many sheaves.

You will have power over the winds and waves of the sea. You will be tossed to and fro and to all human appeance you will be lost but you will keep calm and serence as a summer’s morning. By the power of God and in the name of Jesus you will command the winds and the waves to be still and in an instant suddenly they will be calm.

You will assist in finishing of the temple in the center stake of zion. You will be at the dedication of that house. There you will witness a great display of the power of God. You will do a great work for yourself and your dead. You will assist in building a beautiful city, even the New Jerusalem. You will walk the street paved with pure gold.

You will have many wives and a large posterity. They will be powerful in the holy priesthood. You will have an inheritance in Zion and when the sea moves to the north and the continents come together you will have an inheritance in your native land. You will see your Redeemer standing upon mount zion and with Him a hundred and forty and four thousand. You will be one of that number. You will see the City of Enoch coming down from God out of Heaven and be with and mingle with them on this earth.

I seal the blessings of health and strength and activity upon your body that your mind may be free and active, that you may do all this work with a single eye to His glory. I seal you up to eternal life that you may be with the saints in the morning of the first resurrection. I seal upon you a crown of celestial glory. This I do in the name of the Lord Jesus, your Redeemer, Amen.
